Exploring Atlanta: Best Atlanta Murals & Street Art

by Nichole Wolf | Feb 6, 2025 | Atlanta, Exploring Atlanta

Creativity flows through Atlanta, a Southern metropolis known for its music, history, and place in the film industry. That spirit spills out onto the streets as artists splash the canvas of its walls with color and meaning. No matter which of Atlanta’s distinct neighborhoods you plan to explore, you’ll find amazing street art that demonstrates why this city earned a reputation as a national player in the arts.

Home to street art festival Living Walls as well as Instagram-famous muralist Greg Mike, among many others, Atlanta’s dynamic street art scene scatters colorful, ever-changing murals across neighborhoods like Cabbagetown, East Atlanta, and Little 5 Points. We can’t wait to show you around!

As always, AptAmigo is here to help you find your dream apartment in Atlanta. Our personal apartment experts will make finding the perfect place for you stress-free, and maybe even a little fun. Reach out to us to start your free, VIP Atlanta apartment hunt.

The Best Atlanta Murals & Street Art

Cabbagetown

One of Atlanta’s most prolific neighborhoods for street art, you will always see new and exciting public art in Cabbagetown. It also serves as a favorite hangout for film industry workers (Atlanta is called the Hollywood of the South due to the number of movies & tv shows filmed here), so keep an eye out for movie stars on your tour.

While here, stop by Krog Street Tunnel, a well-known and beloved destination for locals and tourists alike. Graffiti art fills this short tunnel that connects Cabbagetown to Inman Park, another über-trendy Atlanta neighborhood. Best of all? The designs constantly change. Regardless of when you stop by, you’ll likely see an artist working on their latest painting, and you might even catch the filming of a music video.

For more large scale murals, peek just around the corner and take a stroll down Wylie Street. From social commentary to bright, cheerful florals, images that appeal any taste line the walls.

Old Fourth Ward

Home to Ponce City Market, one of Atlanta’s most popular food, shopping, and cultural destinations, Old Fourth Ward is one of our favorite neighborhoods.

Right across the street from the market, you’ll find a large mural space featuring bold, energetic works by local artist Greg Mike. His work pops up throughout Atlanta and this particular wall has featured many different murals over time, from his signature animalistic designs, to a baseball-themed collaboration with the Atlanta Braves.

After Ponce City Market, head to the Beltline Eastside Trail. This 3-mile trail between Piedmont Park and Krog Street Market showcases a rotating display of street art, from murals to life-sized sculptures. New artists go on exhibit each year, and the Atlanta Beltline Art program hosts a variety of events to share their works with the community.

Note that the Beltline does stretch to other parts of the city, including the West End, one of Atlanta’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods. Due to its affordable home prices and walkability, a recent resurgence here brought with it an influx of new breweries, restaurants, and art. The “Greetings from West End” mural is one of the most iconic and easily recognizable spots in this rising-star neighborhood.

Little Five Points

Little Five Points, often touted as one of Atlanta’s most eclectic neighborhoods, gets its reputation from the vintage clothing stores and record shops as well as dive bars and underground music venues that shape its character. The vibrant street art scene contributes too. It includes the absolutely iconic Vortex entrance (one of Atlanta’s most well-known burger joints), and R. Land‘s “Pray for ATL” hands mural, often spotted on stickers across the city.

Start your L5P art journey at the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club and make your way toward Moreland Avenue and The Vortex. We also highly recommend a stop at The Porter Beer Bar. This cozy pub serves up more than 800 beers and our favorite late-night mac and cheese.

East Atlanta Village

“Quirky” and “bohemian” immediately come to mind when thinking of East Atlanta Village. Known for its late-night eateries and globally driven food scene, the street art is just as ubiquitous as the sushi burritos and bowls of ramen.

Animal lovers especially love the art in East Atlanta Village. Larger-than-life alligators, foxes, hummingbirds, and more adorn the walls around EAV (as it’s commonly called by locals). Another walkable ATL neighborhood, we recommend starting on Glenwood Avenue and walking toward Flat Shoals Avenue. The area around popular gastropub Argosy houses the bulk of the art worth checking out.

Buckhead

While traditionally more suburban and not nearly as walkable as the aforementioned areas on the list, some must-visit murals in Buckhead belong on your Atlanta street art tour. Disco Kroger, for instance, is named after the disco club that was located next to this Buckhead Kroger location in the early 80s. And yes, you read that right — Atlanta loves to give themed names to its Krogers. Unsurprisingly, the disco-themed mural has become an ultra-popular spot for Instagram photos.

Cool art appears throughout the rest of Buckhead as well, including a great series along the PATH400 greenway that we recommend taking a stroll through.
