Where to Find Fancy Restaurants in Chicago with a View

Cindy’s
Neighborhood: The Loop
Address: 12 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60603
Cost: $$$
Located atop the historically members-only Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, Executive Chef and Chopped Grand Champion Kaleena Bliss’ Cindy’s represents the perfect culmination of all that Chicago offers. From their 13th-floor location, patrons enjoy carefully curated cocktails, fresh seafood, and locally sourced dishes, while taking in the breathtaking panoramic views of Millennium Park, Lake Michigan, and, of course, the pièce de résistance, the iconic Chicago skyline. Outdoor firepits help ensure that Cindy’s cozy, yet airy, beach house feel remains remarkably present year-round.
What to Eat:
A meal at Cindy’s would not be complete without Oysters. From there, they provide a unique combination of clean seafood and more rustic local flavors. Try the Prawns Nayarit or the Kurobuta Pork Collar; you can’t go wrong. Coming for brunch? Don’t miss the Crab Cake Toast, Seasonal Quiche, and, if you’re feeling up to it, their signature Bloody Mary.
Offshore Rooftop
Neighborhood: Streeterville
Address: 1000 E Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60611
Cost: $$
If you came to Chicago to take in its famed skyline or its location on Lake Michigan, Offshore Rooftop is a must. Although it might not be the fanciest on our list, perfectly situated at the very end of Navy Pier, Offshore provides a unique, in fact, world record-breaking experience. Guests witness the most extensive views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan possible without taking to the waters in a boat. Yet, this gargantuan patio, with both indoor and outdoor seating, offers more than just scenery. The brunch, happy hour, and all-day menus contain a diverse selection of dishes and beverages sure to please everyone in your group.
What to Eat:
With views like this, you may forget to eat. But, if you feel peckish (or thirsty), grab a Shrimp Fuji Role and Faroe Island Salmon or Eggplant Caprese Sliders and NY Strip Steak Frites. Either way, if you wash it all down with a Spiced Pearita, you get to keep the Globe Cup.
Miru
Neighborhood: River North
Address: 401 E Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60601
Cost: $$$
Located on the 11th floor of The St. Regis Chicago Hotel, Miru, the Japanese word for “view” lives up to its namesake. From this vantage point, Miru offers restaurant goers an unobstructed view of the Chicago River, the Navy Pier, and (ironically) the aforementioned Offshore Rooftop. Perfect for date night, impressing out-of-town guests, or business luncheons, their unique perspective makes them one of the best places to watch Chicago’s famous summertime fireworks.
What to Eat:
Miru’s extensive menu champions delicate flavors, succulent noodles, perfectly prepared Wagyu beef, and the freshest sushi and sashimi. The crunchy Tempura Rock Shrimp and Lobster Spring Rolls should not be overlooked. We also highly recommend taking advantage of their generous and carefully curated Sake menu as you take in one of the best views in the city.
LH Rooftop
Neighborhood: The Loop
Address: 85 E Wacker Dr 22nd Floor, Chicago, IL 60601
Cost: $$$
A heart-stopping 22 floors up, LH Rooftop is perched upon a historic 1920s tower that now houses the LondonHouse Chicago hotel. Its location at a bend in the Chicago River, across from the DuSable Bridge, allows for views down the river to Lake Michigan to the east, down the river to the Fulton River District in the west, and the jaw-dropping skyline between them. While many hide from the Chicago winters, LondonHouse transforms this spacious terrace into the not-to-be-missed Rudolph’s Rooftop. This one-of-a-kind experience was just listed as one of TimeOut’s best winter rooftop bars.
What to Eat:
From Blackened Scallops to Braised Lamb Shank to Loco Moco – “Hawaiian Grinds,” LH Rooftop’s seasonal menu warms and satiates any palate. Can’t make it for dinner? Take in the breathtaking view with a Pamplemousse Spritz and an assortment of tapas.
Vu Rooftop Bar
Neighborhood: Chinatown
Address: 133 E Cermak Rd, Chicago, IL 60616
Cost: $$
Last, but certainly not least, on our list, Vu Rooftop Bar, located in Chinatown, offers a more southern view of the Windy City. Its 13,000 square feet houses three bars, retractable windows, numerous fire pits spread across two patios, and karaoke. These amenities make it a perfect place to start or end the night, no matter the time of year. Vu’s menu, offering a selection of vegetarian options, makes it a place you’ll want to stay all night.
What to Eat:
Sharing? Go for the Popcorn Shrimp or South Loop Flatbread. Hungry? The Confit Duck Leg or Chicago Hot Chicken Sandwich will fill you up and keep you warm. Looking for a nightcap and not on a budget? Their $80 XO Nightcap will not upset your taste buds in any way.
