Where to Find Cocktails in Nashville
Attaboy
Address: 8 McFerrin Ave, Nashville, TN 37206
On Attaboy’s history and significance, Lonely Planet writes, “New York City’s famed Attaboy is one of the bars credited with the entire modern craft-cocktail movement—its cocktails are accorded near mythological status by connoisseurs. The minimalist speakeasy-style East Nashville iteration of this tipple lab concocts flat-rate, off-the-cuff creations (no menu—drinks are personalized) chilled with block ice.”
So, whether you know exactly what cocktail you gravitate towards on any given day, or you’re totally new to the wonderful world of cocktails, Attaboy is the perfect spot to cozy up and imbibe. We love the lack of a menu, it’s a welcome invitation to dig in to exactly what you crave at that moment.
The Fox Bar & Cocktail Club
Address: 2905B Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216
The menu at The Fox Bar is a treat in and of itself. It offers a wide variety of cocktail delights, from a section dedicated to the classic favorite, the Old Fashioned, to bevvies with bananas.
The Fox Bar nails the craft cocktail experience. Their dim lighting, art deco décor, and other-worldly cocktails hit just the right atmospheric note. If you can, snag the two armchairs situated to the right of the entrance, you’ll be treated to a view of the entire space from the most comfortable seats in the house.
We recommend The Fox Bar as a pre- or post-dinner treat. Depending on when you go, you can opt for something light and fruity to kick off the upcoming meal, or perhaps a boozier digestif if you grab a nightcap. And, pro tip: Book yourself a dinner at nearby restaurant, lou. You won’t be disappointed.
The Patterson House
Address: 1711 Division St., Nashville, TN 37203
We would be remiss to leave out an old favorite, and, arguably, one of the most popular cocktail bars in Nashville, The Patterson House. It’s a Nashville staple for good reason. As you step through the hidden-in-plain-sight door, it transports you to a small room that feels like a miniature library or study.
The host, typically positioned at the stand in the far right corner, will take your names if you didn’t make a reservation. What we love about The Patterson House is that you’ll never experience a crowd forming behind you. There’s no wait or push and shove to make your way up to the bar. Instead, they’ll bring you to your seats, which feels like total bliss after a long day of exploring the city.
The room houses an impressive collection of ingredients, all ready to be swizzled, shaken, stirred, and served. While there is a house menu, you may find your bartender well-equipped to go off the books.
Come ready to be a little adventurous; try something new like the bacon-infused bourbon. And, why not snag an order of doughnuts to round out the evening?
So, which cocktail bar will you visit first?
Spend too much on fancy cocktails? Don’t worry. There’s plenty of free things to do in Nashville.
