How Lauren Lassiter Increased Her Success in Real Estate by Becoming an Apartment Locator
What did you do before you came to AptAmigo?
Before joining the team at AptAmigo, I worked as an on-site leasing agent for a luxury high-rise building in Streeterville.
Why apartment locating and why now?
I have a passion for real estate, but felt nervous to take the jump and work as an independent agent. However, at my former building, I toured alongside a lot of AptAmigo agents on-site and respected their professionalism and love for what they do.
I stayed in contact with Julia, an AptAmigo locator who toured clients at my former building, and she provided so much information about the culture, resources, and coaching that AptAmigo provides to their agents. I’ve also heard horror stories about other brokerages, but after speaking to and seeing their agents at work, I was confident that AptAmigo was the best in the business.Â
What about AptAmigo appealed to you?
The endless amount of support and tools provided. No other brokerage provides coaching, operations, training, and a positive work environment.
What’s your favorite part about this job?
My favorite part is creating an amazing experience for my clients and exceeding their expectations. I love connecting on a personal level and building trust.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in apartment locating?
You need to have a strong passion for real estate and be open to feedback and constructive criticism. Make mistakes and keep going! Don’t beat yourself up when you start. Instead, invest in yourself and give 100%.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced in this job, and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge was learning to not take it personally when clients don’t close on a deal. I overcame this feeling by improving my calls and taking advantage of my team leads, who gave me great coaching. Over time, I became more knowledgeable about the rental market and how it all works.
Describe your biggest accomplishment since beginning this position, or a time when you felt really successful. What did that experience mean to you?
Within a month of starting at AptAmigo, I received a shoutout from Dan, our company’s CEO. This acknowledgment was meaningful for me because I’ve experienced toxic work environments and know what it’s like to feel unappreciated. AptAmigo feels like a team, everyone works together, cheers you on, and is really happy for your success. You’re not just an agent, you feel like a true asset to the team.
