Treaty Oak Distilling

Address: 16604 Fitzhugh Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620

City: Dripping Springs

No one does distilleries quite like Dripping Springs; some of our favorite spots to try unique spirits can be found throughout this charming Hill Country town just southwest of Austin. Treaty Oak is one of our favorites because, with its spacious outdoor venue and restaurant, you’ll feel like you traveled hundreds of miles outside of the city, while really only escaping about a 20-minute drive away.

Treaty Oak distills their own whiskey and gin and uses the fruits of their labor to create delicious craft cocktails. They own several buildings throughout the property: a tasting room, Alice’s Restaurant, and a mercantile, as well as a spacious outdoor area with a stage for live music. For the perfect Friday or Saturday night, head out to Treaty Oak for some live music and take in the beautiful Texas Hill Country under the gorgeous live oak trees.

What to Try:

For a light and refreshing cocktail to keep you cool during the hot Texas summer, try Treaty Oak’s Antique Fizz. Made using their Waterloo Gin, the Antique Fizz delights with delicious notes of lavender.

Dripping Springs Distilling

Address: 5330 Bell Springs Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620

City: Dripping Springs

Like we said, distilling is the name of the game out in Dripping Springs. When you’re not feeling whiskey or gin, head out to Dripping Springs Distilling for all the vodka your heart desires. The tasting room at this Austin distillery looks sophisticated, modern, and spacious, making it a great place to bring the entire friend group. Even better, the menu offers something for everyone; from their refreshing bloody mary, to the delicious espresso martini, Dripping Springs has perfected the vodka cocktail.

What to Try:

Dripping Springs Distilling is known for having unique seasonal cocktails. This summer, try their Summer Citrus drink with lemon vodka, blueberry flavoring, and even an edible straw!

Desert Door Distillery

Address: 211 Darden Hill Rd, Driftwood, TX 78619

City: Driftwood

For a truly unique experience that will send you straight to the dry deserts far west of Austin, head to Desert Door Distillery. This unique Austin distillery specializes in “tequila’s cousin,” sotol. Maybe you’re like us and have never tried (or even heard of) sotol before. Desert Door is the best place to try this unique spirit for the first time. The team here has perfected the art of taking the sotol plant and distilling it into a one of a kind liquor, and their mixologists know how to transform it into the cocktail of your dreams. When you dream of a trip out West, but don’t feel in the mood for traveling, make the short drive to Driftwood and let the Desert Door team make you feel like you’re on vacation.

What to Try:

When the Texas sun makes you feel like you really are in the desert, there’s nothing quite as refreshing as a well crafted paloma. And a paloma made with fresh sotol? Even better.
