Famously tony Coral Gables isn’t much of a “bar” town in the technical sense. Bars technically are not allowed within the limits of the City Beautiful. However, that doesn’t stop the locals who live and work in this area from having a good time. In fact, it’s one of the city’s most lively happy hour destinations due in large part to the many corporations headquartered in Downtown Coral Gables.

Top 5 Bars in Coral Gables

The Bar
Address: 172 Giralda Ave, Coral Gables, FL 33134
The Bar is a Coral Gables staple and as close as you’ll get to a dive bar around these parts. What might surprise you, given the name, is that they offer a reliably delicious food menu to accompany the classic bar vibes. Friday night famously gets wild, it’s Ladies Night and drinks are two-for-one. Wednesday through Saturday, a DJ spins inside, and a backyard patio allows you to breathe in some fresh air in Miami’s comfortable winter months.
Go here if: You want to let loose after work, or go to an easy meet-up location for a group.
Our favorite drink: It’s not a place for specialty cocktails, but it is a place where you can get a recommendation for a local craft beer. Or, stick to the classics, like a vodka soda or PBR.
Titanic Brewery & Restaurant
Address: 5813 Ponce de Leon, Coral Gables, FL 33146
Coral Gables, home to the University of Miami, is, in some ways, a college town, albeit an untraditional one. Tap into the university scene at Titanic Brewing Co., a longtime watering hole for the college community located outside of the main stretch of Downtown Coral Gables and closer to the university’s campus. Catering to the crowd, they serve a wide range of bar food favorites and a rotating selection of “house brews” from the onsite micro brewery.
Go here if: You’re looking for college vibes with better beer.
Our favorite drink: Ask about the seasonal selection of house brews.
Bay 13
Address: 65 Alhambra Plaza, Coral Gables, FL 33134
Bay 13 Brewery & Kitchen provides a chic indoor-outdoor spot that’s equal parts elevated and laid-back. The huge outdoor terrace feels like a hotel amenity, but it’s open to the public and a pleasant place to enjoy a cocktail with a view of a nice water feature in the heart of Downtown Coral Gables. Open for brunch, lunch, and dinner, the Aussie proprietors brought a flair from down under to the menu and an international approach to the beer selection.
Go here if: You need a spot for a casual work meeting, or are looking for an after-work wind down.
Our favorite drink: The full bar features a wide assortment of spirits from around the world, and the cocktail menu reflects this same worldly approach. Try the Aussie Gin Flight, a tasting of four Australian gins.
The Biltmore Bar
Address: 1200 Anastasia Ave, Coral Gables, FL 33134
Somehow, The Biltmore Bar remains a bit of a local secret. The Biltmore itself is a world-famous historic hotel, once home to the largest pool in the western hemisphere and host to many a glitzy party across the decades. The Biltmore Bar stays open for you to channel this same posh spirit any night of the week. The wood-panelled lounge is a blast from the past in the best way possible.
Go here if: You like a cigar and a singer at the piano kind of vibe.
Our favorite drink: Enjoy a Biltmore Blossom, a Grey Goose, Orange Blossom Liqueur, blood orange, egg whites, and Angostura bitters cocktail.
Fritz & Franz Bierhaus
Address: 60 Merrick Way, Coral Gables, FL 33134
There’s no better time to hangout at Fritz & Franz than during the World Cup when soccer fans flock to this German bierhaus for watching and cheering on their teams, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great spot to hang, drink, eat and catch live music and maybe a soccer game the rest of the year too. At this authentic German food restaurant, you’ll find the schnitzel and brats that you crave as well as beer and wine to pair with them.
Go here if: You love soccer and schnitzel.
Our favorite drink: Pick a German beer or wine from the menu of imports.
