Gramps

Address: 176 NW 24th St, Miami, FL 33127

Over the years, Gramps has become more than just a hipster bar. It’s a hub of community, a place for live shows, cultural events, stand up comedy, indie drag shows, political meet-ups, and an all-around great place to hang out. Grab a seat inside, or hang outside in the tropical backyard where you can grab a slice of pizza from the onsite pizza truck. Inside, you can find a small music venue tucked behind the full bar. 

Go here if: Open till 3am on the weekends, but equally a great day drinking spot, go here if you’re looking for a reliable good time, fun tunes, and a good time any time. 

Our favorite drink: Order the Rosemary’s Baby and watch the bartender light a sprig of rosemary on fire for this gin drink. Added perk? The whole bar smells nice. 

Boxelder 

Address: 2817 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127

Boxelder is a Wynwood OG. Owners Nicole and Adam Darnell opened the bar before the craft beer craze fully hit Miami, making their mark with a Craft Beer Market that sells light bites and beer pairings. They focus on American and Belgian craft beers served out of a modernist tap room with a cool industrial feel that’s right at home in Wynwood. Check out their list of upcoming events. Boxelder always hosts interesting community events, tastings, fundraisers, and visiting breweries. 

Go here if: You’re a real beer or wine head (they’ve expanded into natural and interesting wines too). 

Our favorite drink: Ask for a recommendation of a seasonal local brew, the bartenders really know their stuff and won’t steer you wrong. 

Las Rosas

Venture into the Wynwood outskirts to discover this off-the-beaten-path bar with a bit of an edge. Las Rosas is a dive bar with a jukebox, a pool table, and a punk vibe. You might stumble into an up-and-coming local act playing a show, or just saddle up at the bar out in their backyard and post up for a night of no-frills drinking. They call themselves “a bar that’s just a bar.” 

Go here if: You’re looking for a night of local, underground live music, or a rock n’ roll vibe that can be kind of hard to come by in Miami. 

Our favorite drink: A PBR? A shot of, well, tequila? There’s nothing fancy here, and that’s the fun part about it. 

El Patio

Looking to dance? Ready to get low to some reggaeton or Latin jams? El Patio is the place to get your groove on, lose track of time a bit, and dance until the wee hours of the night. The outdoor venue will make you feel like you’re in Tulum. It’s got the feel of a tropical oasis tucked into urban Wynwood. If you’re looking to order bottle service, that’s available too, or you can just stick to the bar for cocktails. They also serve Latin food that goes with the vibe, like Pan Con Lechon, a pork sandwich, burgers, Venezuelan cheese sticks, and more, because everyone needs to refuel if they want to last on the dance floor.
