The Most Celebrated Houston Wine Bars

Houston thrives on diversity and creativity, and its wine scene reflects those elements of its culture. From cozy, intimate spaces to sleek and chic destinations, a wine bar for every mood and occasion awaits. Pair a wine-filled evening with a day of indulgence — think the best BBQ in Houston for lunch and the city’s unbeatable brunch options the next morning—and you’ve got a recipe for the ultimate weekend.

However, these places go far beyond their drink menus. Many of Houston’s wine bars host live music, wine education events, and pop-up pairings with local chefs, making them vibrant hubs of community and culture. So, whether you seek a new go-to hangout or want to plan a memorable night out, Houston’s wine bar scene invites you to sip, savor, and stay awhile.

The Best Houston Wine Bars

Sixty Vines

Neighborhood: Bellaire – Medical Center

Address: 2540 University Blvd, Houston, TX 77005

Sixty Vines, a cozy restaurant located in Rice Village, just blocks from Rice University, appears in a hip young spot with a great vibe. With sixty wines on tap from around the world, you can find the right wines for your palette. Choose a wine flight or order by the glass (or bottle). If wine doesn’t appeal to you, Sixty Vines also serves a large selection of specialty cocktails.

The food menu, which they designed around the wine, ensures an excellent pairing. Begin with a build-your-own charcuterie board with a variety of meats and cheeses, or choose from one of fifteen shared plates. Then, move on to a main course, but good luck deciding between pizza, pasta, a sandwich, or an entree salad. With so many options, Sixty Vines creates great memories for family dinners, small parties, date nights, or girls’ nights.

What to Order:

Pair a glass of your choosing with the Brussels sprouts and crispy zucchini appetizers and the spicy sausage pizza.

The Library Wine Bar

Neighborhood: Spring Branch

Address: 8510 Long Point Rd, Houston, TX 77055

For an inviting and intimate atmosphere, take a trip to The Library. This gem will make any occasion a joyous one, whether you arrive for happy hour, date night, or just an evening out. With plenty of seating inside and outside, you’ll find yourself truly able to unwind. The staff’s knowledge and enthusiasm make navigating the extensive international wine list a breeze, even for non-wine drinkers.

The Library offers a small but mighty food menu that perfectly accompanies the wines. Choose from a variety of flatbreads, or build your own charcuterie board from a selection of cured meats, artisan cheeses, and accompaniments like olives, dried fruit, and crostini. Follow it up with dessert and the perfect digestif.

What to Order:

Enjoy a nice crisp Prosecco and a charcuterie board.

Light Years

Neighborhood: Montrose – Museum District

Address: 1304 W Alabama St, Houston, TX 77006

Light Years sells a wide selection of natural wines in their shop and bar. The wine selection changes based on availability, but the knowledgeable staff can offer you the right wine for your preferences. Order by the glass or the bottle, and pick up a mixed case of staff recommendations to take home.

For a funky, laid-back vibe ideal for a fun date night or an afternoon glass of wine, head to Light Years. Check out their Instagram page to see when they plan to bring in a DJ or other live music. We recommend visiting Light Years before or after dining out because they don’t offer a food menu.

What to Order:

The best advice for Light Years is to not rely on a menu and instead ask the bartenders.

13 Celsius

Neighborhood: Downtown – Midtown

Address: 3000 Caroline St, Houston, TX 77004

At 13 Celsius, they store their wines in a climate-controlled cellar, set at, you guessed it, 13℃. This wine bar replicates the wine bars of Europe, but with an even bigger and better selection. 13 Celsius is the perfect regular hangout spot or a great destination for special events, such as their wine tastings. Buy wine by the bottle, glass, half glass, or even just a taste.

Memories of the Brooklyn-based Kosher butcher shop owned by the founder’s grandfather inspired the food menu here. Order from a variety of snacks, small plates, grilled sandwiches, or build-your-own board. The European vibes permeate the grounds, whether you sit inside or outside.

What to Order:

The robust wine list will satisfy anybody’s wine desires, but we suggest sampling from among the orange selections, especially the Visintini “Amphora” friulano from Italy, if you see it on the list. As for food, the s’mores board from the dessert menu comes highly praised.

VinSanto

Neighborhood: Woodlake – Westchase

Address: 12525 Memorial Dr #190, Houston, TX 77024

For the perfect blend of sophistication and warmth, visit VinSanto. This local treasure serves up customized wine flights from its flavorful and unique international wine selection. If you know what you want, you can order by the glass and purchase a bottle to go. VinSanto also operates an impressive online shop.

The food, carefully crafted to compliment the wines, ranges from shareable plates and boards to pizzas and sandwiches. As for the atmosphere, expect an energetic yet relaxing setting, perfect for a neighborhood hangout and also worth a drive across town. You will encounter patrons deeply engaged in intimate conversation or simply kicking back with a glass of wine.

What to Order:

You can’t go wrong with the prosciutto crostini or the Dolomati flatbread while you sip a nice, dry Cabernet Sauvignon.
