Your Living Experience
Located at 345 E Upper Wacker, Coast consists of studio, convertible, one bed, two bed, and three bed layouts. Fixtures are consistent throughout all of the units, with differing layouts.
All units feature laminate flooring throughout the common spaces, carpeted bedrooms, floor to ceiling windows, and in-unit laundry. Nearly every apartment has a colossal balcony that spans the length of your home. The majority of units will also have ample storage space, with some layouts featuring multiple walk-in closet. It’s worth noting that ceilings are slightly lower than some other comparably priced units. However, the difference is almost indistinguishable with the open feel created by the floor to ceiling windows.
Finishes can also differ between units. They offer two different packages coined “cool” or “calm”. Both are the same quality, just differ in color variations, shown below.
All kitchens have quartz counters, stainless steel GE Energy Star appliances, dishwashers, mounted microwaves, gas ranges, and refrigerators with ice makers. If you’re in a one bedroom or larger (or the 09 studio layout) you’ll have an island with a breakfast bar.
Bathrooms at Coast have oversized vanities made of cultured marble, ceramic tiled showers with mosaic tiled accents, and ample sized mirrors. Storage space is average in the bathrooms, nothing to write home about. Medicine cabinet storage isn’t quite on par with other luxury buildings, but is still more than serviceable.
You can find some pretty spectacular views at Coast. The premier exposure in my mind is the Northeast facing two bedrooms with views of the river, lake, and navy pier. It’s absolutely stunning. The South view is still a solid view, overlooking the new east side community and Millennium Park, although the more height the better on this side. The only view that I’d consider less than ideal is the directly West facing views. You can still get a peek of the river, but you have a fair amount of obstruction of the Swissotel next door. Overall, Coast is an above average building to find some scenery.
Amenities / Policies
Coast has a litany of community amenity offerings for residents. All of the amenities at Coast are located on the 4th floor.
Let’s start with the gym. It’s an expansive space with an assortment of high quality Cybex cardio and strength machines. On top of that you’ll have plenty of free weights. Dumbbells go up to an almost unnecessary 100 lbs. You’ll also have a smith machine for barbell workouts. Overall, it’s a fantastic fitness center and could easily replace a gym for the average tenant.
Down the hall is the spa area. You’ll find two hot tubs, a steam room, and a sauna here. Next to the hot tubs are nano doors that retract open in nice weather to give the spa a nice indoor / outdoor feel. Beyond these doors is where the heated outdoor lap pool lies. Adjacent to the pool is a landscaped area with lounge seating, a couple commercial grills, and a fire pit.
Heading back inside to the resident lounge. It’s a quaint space, filled with colorful furniture and a couple of TVs. On the side are three conference rooms that can be reserved at no cost. They’re first come, first serve if not already reserved. Next to the lounge is a coffee bar with a Starbucks coffee machine, although it’s a dollar per cup. Finally, in the hall near the elevator is the business center. It’s situated behind a frosted glass wall, where there’s two PC and two Mac computers. All common areas are Wi-Fi accessible.
The last few details include a parking garage, managed by Standard Parking. Parking is month to month and will cost you $255 a month for an unreserved spot and $315 for a private, reserved space. Additionally, you have 24 hour door staff in the lobby, dry cleaning on site, complimentary bike storage, and storage lockers available for rent. Storage lockers are tied to your lease and billed annually. Single cages are $250 and double cages are $500 Coast allows dogs on specific floors, although breed restrictions will still apply. Pet fees will also apply.
The utility package includes heat, a/c, water, sewer, trash, gas, cable, and internet. Cable is through Comcast. It includes 120 channels in addition to HBO and Showtime. Internet is through a company called Lake Shore Internet. 15 Mbps is included by default with the option to upgrade if you need more speed. The utility package will run $85 in a studio, $120 in a one bed, $140 in a two bedroom, and $170 in a 3 bedroom.
